We honored the incredible Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) who work tirelessly to promote health programs, share essential information, and support women and families in their communities. These dedicated women are the backbone of Nepal’s community-based healthcare, especially in rural and remote areas, where their efforts improve nutrition, WASH practices, and overall health outcomes.
As part of our Health Reform Project in Bardiya, we’ve trained FCHVs in improved nutrition practices, family engagement, and monitoring. Their work is vital in improving maternal and child health and reducing mortality rates.
Established in 1988, FCHV Day celebrates these volunteers’ critical role in connecting communities with healthcare and inspiring future generations to engage in this vital service. During the celebration organized by the municipality, ADRA and the implementing partner ENRUDEC supported the event and distributed equipment to the FCHVs (a bag, towel, sanitizer, thermometer and masks) to help them in their Nutrition and WASH service delivery to communities. They participated in a march to raise awareness and committed to better services in nutrition and WASH.
Thank you, FCHVs, for your dedication to building healthier futures!
